Senior Software Engineer (.Net local to Boston )

Overview (Briefly describe the overall purpose and intent of the role as it relates to TF and/or the business unit  objectives)	The person in this role will work closely with the development team members to create an OLAP based solution for Private Equity benchmarking and investments data in order to sunset the legacy Canada VC site. Technologies involved are Microsoft .NET 3.5 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 and Excel.   Contractor can technically sit in Boston or NYC (3 Times Square) but PREF is BOSTON. There will be a phone screen and in-person (in Boston) for the role.
Scope (Describe the impact this role has in terms of decision making, directions received, size of organization/project managed or supported, impact of errors, dollars, etc.)	The person in this role will research various alternatives, make recommendations and implement the eventual solution.
Responsibilities and Duties (Identify 6-10 key functions/tasks performed in this role.  Describe these functions/tasks in terms of WHAT, HOW, and WHY.  Include the approximate percentage of time spent on these functions/tasks during a typical week.  If the percentage of time on any single function/task is less than 5%, that function/task should not be included here.)	Analysis, design and implement robust solutions to meet the business requirements following the proposed architecture. Work across all tiers of a Web based application included UI, Service and Database layers. Act as our resident expert on matters regarding Business Intelligence, OLAP and SSAS.   Should be able to work independently as well as within a group that is geographically dispersed.

Competencies, Qualifications and Experience (Please list the minimum and desired/required levels of education/ specific education, prior work experience and accomplishments)	4-5 years of experience working with Business Intelligence technologies and overall 8+ years of experience in the software development industry. Hands on experience with Microsoft .Net, C#, SQL, MDX is a must (OLAP is #1).   Hands-on Experience with SSIS a plus although should have this experience as it is related to OLAP.   UI Visualization layer experience on OLAP is a big plus as well as VENTURE CAPITAL understanding.   Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience   EXCELLENT communication skills as the contractor will be working with business folks as well.   LOOK FOR: SSIS, C#, SQL Server DBA with the UI Layer experience.   Contractor will need to commit to entire assignment (approved through 6/10/10) with only at the max two weeks of vacation time (unpaid). It is critical that this person be in place during the assignment. Hours are generally 8-5pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch.
