Position Title: Essbase developer

Location: San Francisco, California, USA

Description:
• Acts in a high-level technical role as a designer for major computer applications utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs.
• Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors.
• Designs platforms, writes code, and develops tests.
• Leads multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis.
• Acts as expert technical resource to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process.
• May act as project/team lead.

• The Wealth, Brokerage, and Retirement (WBR) group is searching for an experienced Essbase developer to assist with a project of building new essbase applications for a significant line of business in the combined organization.
• We are searching for an individual that will be able to support development of databases in Hyperion Essbase version 9.3.1 housed upon Solaris UNIX servers. This individual should be able work within a very concentrated timeline with changing resources.

In the position, you will:

1. Provide technical support and development of the Hyperion Essbase server used for financial reporting. This includes building processes for new databases to support separate lines of business. A detailed knowledge of options using ESSCMD, MaxL, data loading, calc scripting, process automating, error handling, and reconciling is required.

2. Partner with the various stakeholders to understand and complete application and system requirements, accomplish project tasks, resolve issues, assess needs, evaluate results and recommend changes.

3. Evaluate and recommend solutions to improve existing systems processes and reporting through efficiencies and expanded process automations. Existing Essbase automations are written in Perl and UNIX scripting. Offer recommendations on the pros and cons of the full range of tools that make up the Hyperion applications to expand our existing environment.

4. Demonstrate strong skills in Essbase tuning and configuring to optimize database and server settings for maximum performance.

5. Build new relational source data feeds to store within Essbase sets of data to measure the performance of the business. This requires a solid understanding of SQL and experience with querying data from a variety of relational sources.

6. Identify and define input and reporting tools designed to meet end-user needs for forecasting, outlooking and budgeting. Evaluate existing tools for redesign as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• BA/BS degree in Finance or Business or equivalent experience is desired.
• Prior experience with companies within the financial industry required.
• Five years experience as a systems analyst with strong Excel knowledge and familiarity with the Essbase Visual Basic API's in Excel.
• Two years experience with Web development for reporting.
• Prior experience with Essbase system upgrades necessary.
• Demonstrated Essbase experience on various OS platforms a plus.
• Proficiency in Unix and Perl a plus.
• A demonstrated understanding of relational database querying (Oracle, SQL, DB2 or Access) is critical.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
Experience with third party reporting tools for Essbase.
Clarity Performance Management development experience.
