They are looking for both Admin skills with some development/scripting/coding exp.
Description
The Infrastructure Development Team is responsible for developing core infrastructure components that are used by online applications such as messaging, logging and message routing. The team develops custom monitoring solutions for systems, applications and infrastructure components using a combination of Java and .Net technologies and also develops custom deployment tools for applications and services.
Additional responsibilities include supporting the Architecture team by performing proof of concept projects, new technology evaluations and implementation of new architectures from the lab through implementation into the production environment. This involves installing and configuring new servers, storage and networking hardware in the lab, creating and executing tests to determine adoption feasibility and making recommendations on purchases and configurations as well as leading the implementation of solutions.
The Infrastructure development team is looking for a self-motivated, energetic Unix/Linux systems administrator willing to enhance their development skills to participate on the team to create and enhance infrastructure components, drive technology evaluations and manage lab resources. Primary responsibilities will include supporting NSA system scripting, driving lab environment projects and tests and managing the technology for the Novus In a Box project.
A Senior Engineer in this role will assist in designing technical solutions, mentor less experienced developers in the implementation of the designs and will be expected to work with a variety of colleagues including Architects, other developers, support staff and management.
Major Areas of Accountability
Technology (80%) –
· Solves complex problems independently with minimal technical or managerial guidance
· Responsible for developing and implementing technical project solutions
· Collaborates with other departments in troubleshooting and correcting system configuration problems
· Acquires and maintains additional technical skills for professional development
Leadership & Communication (10%) -
· Works effectively in a team environment in a cooperative spirit
· Communicates in a professional manner when interacting with less-experienced staff, peers, senior staff, and internal or externalcustomers
· Demonstrates the ability to actively listen to others
· Produces and maintains detailed technical and business documentation for all assigned tasks and projects
· Coaches less-experienced staff members in a mentor-type relationship
· Communicates regular status updates to Team Lead or Manager
· Assists in preparing and may conduct informal training and chalk talks for staff members and / or various user areas
Management & Administration (10%) -
· Assists with identifying and estimating project resources and schedules
· Be able to manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities and tasks
· Evaluates and recommends improvements to group processes and technology solutions
· Works with management to establish individual career goals that contribute to departmental goals with team lead/manager
Qualifications
Requirements:
Education
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Skills
· Must have 5+ years of recent Unix/Linux systems experience
· Proficient Linux/Unix administration skills
· Must have proven experience with Linux/UNIX scripting
· Excellent knowledge of Novus Suite Architecture
· Experience installing and configuring Linux/Unix and Windows hardware
· Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills
· Experience installing/supporting storage systems a plus
· Experience installing/supporting network technologies a plus
· Experience working with Java
· Working knowledge of relational databases: Oracle, DB2
· Working knowledge of middleware technologies a plus: IBM MQ Series, Websphere
· Experience working with LDAP servers a plus
