Description:   

Master's degree in computer science, information system, epidemiology, statistics, or related field. • 7 years minimum relevant experience. • Strong SAS expertise including the ability to efficiently manipulate very large databases (millions of records), integrate data from different sources into analysis datasets, experience with data cleaning techniques, development and usage of SAS macros to complete analysis and reporting requirements. • UNIX operating system expertise, Oracle SQL (& Proc SQL) expertise, data warehousing experience, basic knowledge of descriptive statistics and an understanding of statistical terminology and concepts. • Familiarity with health care claims data and analyses, standard disease and drug coding schema such as ICD-9 and NDC, experience with sampling strategies for large databases. • Good communication skills with a demonstrated history of teamwork and collaboration.

 

Responsibilities:

This position provides scientific programming support for Pharmacoepidemiology research projects within the Epidemiology department. The individual provides analysis and report programming support using data from available medical and health research databases including the General Practice Research Database (GPRD), Ingenix, Marketscan databases, etc. Such programming support will help answer regulatory, clinical, and epidemiological questions including cohort development, identifying disease incidence and prevalence, risk factors, etc. The programming analyst will gather and interpret user requirements for analysis and programming support, retrieve the required data, and transform the data into analysis datasets for further analysis and reporting needs.
