Horizon Technology Partners has an immediate FULL-TIME, PERMANENT opening for a Lead SQL Server 2005 Production DBA. Your skills are needed to assist a direct client located in Downtown Chicago, IL. In this role you will join an existing team (~5 Database Engineers, 30+ developers) implementing the data tier for a database intensive, web based analytics application providing business intelligence and Internet marketing for the automotive industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supporting multi-server production SQL Server 2005 clustered database environment to ensure performance, availability, and security of multiple databases (64 and 32 bit)
- Work as part of IT-Operations server team to design/optimize physical server and disk structure layouts in production, test, and development environments
- Proactive monitoring of production database health in concert with IT-Operations team
- Maintenance of physical database environments for QA and development teams * servers, DB instances, and SSIS/SSAS services
- Operational management of 24/7 production and legacy ETL infrastructures in partnership with Engineering team's ETL specialists
- Work closely with Engineering team to provide continuous process improvement and database architecture/design expertise
- Manage production database deployments from code-versioned scripts using existing deployment tools
- Monitor the delivery and receipt of application data, inventory, sales, auction, and other information to vendors and partners
- Set up new data feeds and exports as required by the business through a combination of scripting and FTP services
- Act as liaison to selected third party distributors of data.
- Respond to and correct failures in staging and data loading timely manner and in accordance with mission criticality

Required Skills:
- Must have a minimum five(5) years experience in MS SQL Server database environments ( 3yrs of MS-SQL 2005) with a focus on maintaining, backing up, and optimization of critical data systems including performance tuning, store procedure development, and SSIS design. MS-SQL 2008 a plus
- Experience in 64-bit clustered environment required
- Familiarity with various replication strategies; implementation experience a plus
- Experience administering SSAS
- Experience in mixed-mode security environment
- Strong experience architecting OLTP and OLAP databases
- Proficiency in T-SQL profiling and optimization
- Ability to use SQL Profiler for deadlock resolution and load analysis
- Proficient in the integration of SQL Server/relational databases with an n-tiered application architecture
- High level of experience in managing and configuring SSIS packages in production environment
- Experience deploying all application database updates via script from a code-versioning system
- Keen sense of maintaining database layer as component of a larger application, rather than as a standalone facility
