Position Description

 

Company is seeking an experienced database and scripting developer to work on the data files load initiative. The role is project related, specifically an integration of new feeds into existing system.

This role will require the ability to analyze business requirements, analyze detailed technical documentation, analyze data files and develop load processes using specific tools, such as Talend ETL tool and DW Studio.  Success in this role will hinge on the ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing.

 

The role is senior in nature and requires the candidate to be able to independently analyze issues, identify root causes and propose/implement appropriate resolutions.

 

Responsibilities

  

  • Database (SQL) development.
  • Automation of data loads from various sources, including provider's website portal;
  • Optimization of performance in processing large volumes of data for highly visible applications.
  • Manage the quality of data being imported/exported in/out of the database.
  • Analyze data provided from external entities in non-standard file formats.
  • Providing accurate estimates for resolution of each task; identifying dependencies and risks; planning for QA, UAT and Deployment steps.
  • Act as business analyst, including meeting with users; gathering requirements and researching most optimal solution.

The candidate will be responsible for establishing list of feeds using specific tools provided by the company.

The position will be responsible for entire data feed cycle, starting from the data file mapping to the database, working with the users on establishing the business rules for each feed; development, testing and deployment of the solution.

Other responsibilities include: gathering requirements, analysis, communicating status and resolution plans to project manager; delivering the solutions. 

 

Qualifications

  • Must have overall 10 years experience in the software development, and 5 years experience in the Finance industry.
  • Extensive experience in data feeds realm, specifically  of industry standard file types, such as DSA, DSP, PR3, PR4, and others.
  • Extensive experience with RDBMS (MS SQL Server in particular).
  • Strong database design and writing stored procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of range of Microsoft tools, Excel in particular.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows scripting and batch programming.
  • Experience in HTML, Java, JavaScript and XML. 
  • Good knowledge of financial services industry.
  • Strong communication skills, works well within a team, users and a vendor.
  • Ability to lead a project and delegate work within dynamic environment.
  • Ability to build a partnering relationship with a client base is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Good written skills.
  • Knowledge of ETL tools (Talend in particular) is a big plus.
