Complete Description:

Develop a comprehensive web-based curriculum management system to facilitate tracking of new medical school curriculum currently under development in the CLIENT .

• Design a database model to electronically track details of the new curriculum

• Implement a flexible security model to enable course directors and medical school administration to update and access curriculum information relevant to their role

• Tag each curriculum element with one or more MeSH keywords

• Track planned redundancies

• Track assessments associated with each curriculum element to measure competence

• Search the curriculum database by keyword and return "groupings" in which the requested topic was covered, along with assessment methods used to measure students' competency on the topic

• Implement an interface with Unified Medical Library System (UMLS) API to provide advanced search capabilities by automatically adding synonyms and related terms to the search criteria

• Develop XML feed to populate curriculum data into AAMC's CurrMIT (Curriculum Management and Information Tool) System

• Develop a checklist for tracking orphan topics covered in the old curriculum

• Develop or implement a third-party crawler application to index keywords found in PDFs, PowerPoint files, and Word documents posted on the course management website, eCurriculum.

 

The specific requirements for the project are subject to change based on the evolving needs of the new curriculum.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field is required

• At least four years of experience in systems analysis, design, and implementation

• At least three years of hands-on web application development experience using VB.NET or C# in Visual Studio 2005/2008

• At least three years of hands-on experience with database design and development using Microsoft SQL Server

• At least three years of experience writing queries and stored procedures in T-SQL

• User interface and graphics design experience using Photoshop and CSS is preferred

• Ability to listen and understand user needs and requirements

• Interpret and communicate clearly and accurately information, ideas and instructions both verbally and in writing
