User Interface Analyst Need local to DC

 

The Westlaw Business Product Management team is looking for a User Interface Analyst to assist with the continued development of our industry leading research and workflow product.  The User Interface Analyst will work closely with Product Managers in our Washington DC, Eagan MN, and global offices to define and document the user experience and user interface for new modules and enhancements for the Westlaw Business platform and related software solutions.  The User Interface Analyst will report to a senior manager within the product team, but will take direction from individual Product Managers in regards to specific projects.

 

Note: MUST BE LOCAL (pls state in notes).  Primary Resp to work w/ Product mgs to design and implement improvements to UI.  Pixel Maps are a plus, please show how they have used before.

 

The User Interface Analyst will have the following responsibilities:

• Assist Product Managers in brainstorming product concepts particularly in the areas of user experience and user interface.
• Work with Product Managers to define user experience and interface for new and enhanced functionality.
• Assist Product Managers with identifying and avoiding technical implementation issues related specifically to Westlaw Business product platform and generally to HTML based web development.
• Develop and refine screen mockups to document and communicate proposed user interface.
• Investigate, analyze and document interface patterns within existing application to inform future development.
• Assist Product Managers in maintaining consistent user experience and interface by applying existing patterns, indentifying deviations, and resolving inconsistencies in the manner that improves the overall product.
• Act as business analyst on small projects by gathering and documenting user requirements and working with technology to communicate functional needs.

 

A significant expectation for the position is the ability to efficiently and effectively document the user interface for the product.  The User Interface Analyst is expected to quickly produce low-fidelity interface mockups using Axure, Visio, Photoshop, PowerPoint or similar tools to support the product planning process.  The User Interface Analyst will also be required to develop high-fidelity mockups of proposed interfaces to support presentations and pre-release marketing efforts.  The high-fidelity mockups will also include detailed “Pixel-maps” to communicate user interface design specifics to the software development team.

 

The ideal candidate for this position is a junior business analyst with experience in user interface design and strong graphics skills or a graphical designer with experience in systems analysis.  The successful candidate must be able to work effective on a one-on-one basis with each member of the Product Management team, many of whom do not work in the DC office.  The successful candidate must be able to juggle multiple, often conflicting projects and manage their time by considering overall organizational priorities and strategic objectives along with short term due-dates and delivery schedules.  The candidate must also be able to reconcile differing points of view and direction and negotiate common understanding.

 

Interested candidates must have the following skills:

• Experience in user interface design
• Basic knowledge of user interface design with HTML
• Basic to intermediate Photoshop or similar software
• Intermediate Axure, Visio, or PowerPoint for interface design (Axure strongly preferred)
• Solid capabilities with Microsoft Office
