With multiple existing in-house and third-party inventory systems, Telefónica O2 Czech Republic needed to define, manage and unify its customer services and associated logical resources (such as phone numbers and IP addresses) and physical resources (such as switches and routers) to dramatically reduce service introduction times and automate service fulfillment.
This implementation, managed by Oracle's partner in the region Ness Technologies, has resulted in a 62% reduction in the time needed to design and launch new converged fixed and mobile services and a 47% reduction in the time needed to deliver broadband services. www.oracle.com Contract News: T-Mobile UK select Amdocs to provide managed services T-Mobile UK look to Amdocs to support its billing, customer care and ordering applications Amdocs, a provider of customer experience systems, has announced a new, four-year managed services contract with T-Mobile UK. Under the agreement, Amdocs will manage the ongoing development, maintenance and support of T-Mobile UK's billing, customer care and ordering systems for its 16.7 million subscribers. Amdocs will also modernize T-Mobile UK‚s ordering system. "By partnering with Amdocs we can continue to deliver great customer service, knowing that we have strong expertise in place to strategically support and further develop our billing and ordering applications," said T-Mobile UK's IT Director, Dirk Rohweder. "This is a significant milestone towards a new approach to working with strategic IT suppliers and moving to a highly efficient managed services model in the customer relationship management domain." www.amdocs.com Contract News: Ericsson signs €1.2bn framework agreements with Chinese operators Agreements on 2G/3G mobile communication equipment and related services Under a new framework agreement signed between Ericsson and China Mobile, Ericsson will continue to deliver green solutions to support China Mobile's network energy optimisation and CO2 emission reduction target. Ericsson will also expand GSM/GPRS network coverage and capacity in 18 provinces and support China Mobile's 3G network build-out by providing a range of TD-SCDMA products and solutions. China Mobile and China Unicom have received 3G licenses of TD-SCDMA and WCDMA standards respectively at the beginning of 2009. Together the two operators are currently serving more than 620 million mobile subscribers. Under the framework agreement signed between Ericsson and China Unicom, Ericsson will upgrade China Unicom's GSM networks in 10 provinces, but also provide the operator with GSM/WCDMA core network and/or wireless access system in 15 provinces, including transmission, IP and value-added service platform. www.ericsson.com Contract News: New Vietnamese mobile operator deploys Comverse ONE GTEL Mobile selects Comverse in a bid to establish a foothold in the competitive Vietnamese market Established in July 2008, GTEL Mobile is a joint venture between Vietnam's GTEL Corporation and VimpelCom (NYSE: VIP), a major telecommunications services provider in Eastern Europe. Vietnam's telecommunications industry recently has been growing at 20 to 25 percent annually, with more than 50 million mobile service users. The operator has opted to deploy the Comverse® ONE Billing & Active Customer Management solution and a number of Value-Added Services, including SMS Centre, MMS Cente, Messaging Gateway, Mobile Internet Gateway, Next-Generation Voicemail, Call Completion and Ringback Tone services. By entering a short-code in their phone, users are provided with a simple text menu which provides fast and direct access to various operator services such as service settings, service status and tariff information. Myriad won the mobile self-service tender in 2008 and is providing the USSD channel that combines with the SCE module from VoiceObjects. The service was launched this month. INS and Onvoy operate and co-own the SS7 network, and had a need to monitor the increasing volume of IP traffic on their individual networks. Tekelec will now monitor, correlate and report on multi-protocol network traffic to deliver business intelligence information for troubleshooting, traffic management and improved network efficiency.
