Job Description:
Administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company database. Implements data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 6 - 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
The Data Warehouse Database Administrator partners with the System Engineers, Middleware Group, Database Design Group and Application Teams to ensure the availability, performance, security and maintenance of the PBG Enterprise Data Warehouse.
When not directly responsible for project work, the DWH DBA is responsible for assessing the impact of all project work performed against the DWH enforcing compliance with Architectural and Database standards as well as ensuring maximum performance.
While the Database Designers and Application teams are focused on specific projects, the Database Administrators are focused on the Data Warehouse as a whole.
Review , approve and implement physical design changes provided by the Database Design Team ensuring complicance with the current architecture as well as maximum performance from the design Provide code reviews and make performance recommendations to application and ETL teams Architect and implement backup/recovery procedures Monitor the health of the Data Warehouse on an ongoing basis proactively discovering performance opportunities and potential threats to system stability.
Resolve production database issues and determine root cause of all failures
