Java Web Application Developer - AGR 2.0 Initiative
Location: CO
Note: Local Only. Primary Duty to design and develop our new business intelligence web application functionality.
Senior Software Engineer
Position Summary
Candidate will work as a member of our Account Group Reporting (AGR) 2.0 Initiative software development team. The AGR 2.0 development team within Thomson Healthcare is responsible for designing, developing, the next generation of web based business intelligence applications. This position will work closely with other team members to understand the AGR 2.0 business requirements, design, develop, and test solutions that support this initiative.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
· Responsible for the overall design and implementation of major portions of a subsystem/application.
· Responsible for writing large sections of technical specifications, generating innovative approaches and solutions to problems.
· Provide detailed design, coding, and testing of software modules with limited direction from Development Manager.
· Estimate, plan, and prioritize development work within domain, track and report on task progress, meet predetermined schedules and mandated deadlines and identify required adjustments.
· Work independently on complex tasks.
· Manage multiple and competing priorities.
· Guide, direct and teach less-experienced staff members in a mentor-type relationship.
· Produce well-written technical documentation.
· Work within a structured development environment that includes design and code reviews, version control, automated unit testing, and automated builds. Follow a defined product development process.

· Directly supervised by Development Manager
Job Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
· Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
· Exceptional design, code and testing skills
· Capable of identifying issues and driving them to resolution
· Ability to accomplish assigned duties on time and with very little supervision.
· Excellent oral and written communications skills.
· Ability to work independently in a team environment
· Strong teamwork skills, 5+ years experience working as part of a development team, including good mentoring skills.
Required Education and/or Experience
· BS in Computer Science or related technical field
· 5+ years writing commercial software applications in a structured software development environment
· 3+ years experience with Java technologies
· Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, and XSLT
Desired Qualifications and/or Experience
· Experience with Cognos
· Experience building Adobe Flex
· Experience with Healthcare application development
Material and Equipment Directly Used
Requires the use of office equipment, including [desktop computer or laptop computer with dock station, monitor, keyboard and mouse, handheld device, fax, copier, and telephone.]
Working Environment/Physical Activities
Office environment; Minimal travel required.
