Real Talk: "Art Works: A Portrait of the Artist in a Starving Economy"

Tuesday, November 10, 2009
6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a networking reception to follow
Ned Devine's Faneuil Hall Marketplace

It's never easy to make money by making art, but a recession poses particular challenges for the local artistic community. How are local galleries, theater companies and musicians adapting to today's economic realities? In the last Real Talk for 2009, panelists from across the Bay State's small artistic organizations talk about what works, what doesn't, and what Massachusetts needs to do to keep the arts flourishing.

RSVP or call 617.742.6800 ext. 131.

YAVA and ONEin3 Boston team up for a month of volunteering events!

We'll be helping the Greater Boston Food Bank, Cradles to Crayons, Saturday's Bread, and many more!

ONEin3 Boston serves the one-third of Boston's population that is between the ages of 20 and 34, connecting Boston's young adults with resources related to home buying, business development, professional networking, and civic engagement.

YAVA connects people in their 20's and 30's through one-time volunteer opportunities.

Citizens Connect - Boston's New iPhone App!

Seen any potholes/graffiti/street lights out? Well, now you can report it directly to the City using your iPhone!

That's right, the City of Boston has built Citizens Connect, a free iPhone app that's all about giving you active citizens an easier way to help us do our jobs.

Download it today!

Y/BPS is a collaboration between YMCA and the Boston Public Schools, which aims to connect young parents to current BPS parents and educate them on the BPS system, the lottery, their local schools and more. If you have children approaching school age, you should definitely check out what they do so you can make an informed decision on your child's education.

In order to improve their operations and make themselves stronger for you, Y/BPS has a survey they'd like you to take. To sweeten the pot, they've thrown in a raffle for a $50 gift certificate to Target. Sounds like a good idea to me!

Y/BPS's survey - TAKE IT!
