VMWare Engineer

 

Location - Washington DC Metro/Maryland with possible travel to Northern California.

6 Months

 

Travel - 80% Travel

Minimum Education Level
4 year degree in Computer Science or work experience equivalent

Functional Responsibilities
Windows Systems Engineer
Function as a Senior Consultant for end clients of CLIENT as a Windows Systems Engineer and VMWare virtualization consultant for design and implementation of ITS professional service engagements.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Ø      2+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting VMWare

Ø      Infrastructure (now vSphere) software including ESX, Virtual Center, and Capacity Planner.

Ø      VCP certification is required.

Ø      7+ years working with Microsofts server and server related products in large scale, mission critical, highly available, enterprise environments.

Ø      3+ years experience with administrating recent versions of Active directory and supporting components.

Ø      Experience with implementing and administrating recent versions of Microsoft SQL Server and IIS.

Ø      Experience designing and implementing MS Clusters.

Ø      Experience administrating Business applications running on Windows servers.

Ø      Experience administrating Microsoft based file systems and permissions structures.
Tier 1 server hardware experience (Compaq, Dell, IBM)

Ø      Microsoft Certification (MCP, MCSE) preferred

Ø      Script and/or coding experience, preferably VB or VBA.

Ø      Possesses comprehensive technical knowledge and organizational skills to oversee, coordinate, and participate in highly complex projects with high visibility and high impact on the business.

Ø      Ability to prepare technical reports, client presentations, design documentation, and manuals.

Ø      Experience with enterprise storage architectures: SAN, NAS

Ø      Experience with Cisco network devices and the ability to articulate network options for multi-tier highly available application architectures.

Ø      Possesses comprehensive technical knowledge and organizational skills to oversee, coordinate, and participate in highly complex projects with high visibility and high impact on the business.

Ø      As the individual will often be acting in a consulting role and as a technical advisor, consulting experience is highly recommended.

Ø      Ability to articulate solutions to such diverse constituencies as project managers, clients, business stakeholders and engineers.

Ø      The ability to quickly understand and be able to articulate business impacts of technical decisions and drive solutions to specific business problems through the effective use of technology.
