Scope of work: 

·         Work with the senior SQL Server DBA and help set up new environment, move packages, run data-extractions processes, design SSIS ETL Packages and SSAS Cubes.

·         Installing, Configuring, Monitoring, Maintaining SQL Server 2000 / 2005 / 2008 Databases.

·         Perform Database Capacity Planning (CPU / Memory / Disk Usage Estimations.

·         Analyze and optimize performance for retrieving and storing large amounts of datasets from heterogeneous data sources like IBM DB2, Teradata etc.

 

Required skills:

·         4 (four) years of experience.

·         Strong Understanding of Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Models and ability to transform Logical Data Model to Physical Data Model.

·         Experience in implementing Database High Availability Technologies like Clustering, Replication, Log shipping and Database Mirroring.

·         Expert in using Third party tools like Idera's SQL Safe backup, Quest's Litespeed and IBM's Tivoli Storage Manager for Database Backup / Restore Operations.

·         Expertise in Designing SQL Server Security Models (Windows / Mixed Mode Authentications) and implementing Security Best Practices in Production Database Servers.

·         Ability to create / Schedule Database Maintenance Plans like Checking Database Integrity, Reorganizing / Rebuilding Indexes, Updating Statistics, Cleaning up Job History, Truncating Transaction Logs etc.

·         Familiarity with Various Performance counters (both System and SQL Server related) using Windows "Perfmon" tool and ability to correlate this data with SQL Server Profiler, SQL Server 2005 Dynamic Management Views and Functions.

·         Implement Best Practices in Configuring SQL Server I/O subsystem for optimal Running in SAN Environments.

·         Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and take independent decisions with minimal outside guidance.

·         Ideal candidate must possess necessary communication skills to interact with wide variety of associates including technical, business and project management associates.

 

 

Development Skills:

·                     Expert in transforming complex business logic in to Database Model with Entity Relationships, Data Integrity Considerations.

·                     Familiar with at least One Data Model tools like ERWin, Visio or Power Designer etc.

·                     Excellent Programming skills with Transact SQL.

·                     Experience in working with all types of Database Objects like Tables, Views, Indexes, DDL /DML Triggers, Stored Procedures, User-defined Functions, User-Defined Data types etc.

·                     Strong Experience in Extracting, Transforming and Loading Data Operations using Tools like BCP, DTS and SSIS etc.

·                     Experience in Designing OLAP Cubes using SQL Server Analysis Services and Expert in writing MDX Queries.

·                     Expert in Designing Reports using SQL Server Reporting Services.
