POSITION SUMMARY
The Automation Specialists primary responsibilities are to automate system and API\Service-based tests for designated products. They will be responsible for executing, monitoring and maintaining existing tests and enhancing the automation framework, harness, shared libraries, and tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of developing automation frameworks for Enterprise Class software. The candidate will be able to develop designs for automation components, work with QA to develop automation test plans and assist engineers in developing automated tests, work with development teams to understand how to test the services\ API's, and contribute to making the products more easily testable. Additional responsibilities include filing bug reports and working closely with other team members in Software Engineering to troubleshoot potential issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
May provides guidance to others in carrying out Automation duties, while performing technically advanced responsibilities.
May assist in establishes and maintaining technical testing methodologies and processes specific to automation.
Develops and delivers verbal and written status reports.
Reports, documents, and tracks resolutions for software Defects identified in the testing process using approved tools and processes.
Assists in the confirmation of problems reported from outside sources, and assists system development staff in understanding problems and desired resolution.
Participates and/or leads peer reviews of automation software artifacts.
May assist in the identification, selection, and implementation of software tools and technologies.
Prepares routine correspondence internal reports for internal/external review
Skills and Required Experience
4 plus years of software quality assurance with enterprise-class software
3 plus years development experience in structured, object-oriented languages.
2 plus years Java development
Strong automated testing experience utilizing Java based automation tools. Preferably Rational Functional Tester
Strong ability to develop system, API, and component test plans, automated tests, and supporting libraries
Strong ability with object-oriented development
Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, databases and Oracle
Familiarity with shell scripting and windows scripting
Familiarity with Web 2.0 technologies and applications i.e. Ajax, Flex |
