Title: Solaris Admin
Location: Austin, TX
Duration: 6 months
Bill Rate: $45 per hour all inclusive
Job Description:
Ø Senior level knowledge and experience in Solaris server administration in a large distributed 7x24 systems environment.
Ø Knowledge and experience in supporting a redundant client server environment that utilizes data clustering technologies such Veritas Cluster Server, Knowledge and experience with server virtualization technologies like Solaris Zones, containers and LDOMS.
Ø Ability to create, analyze and troubleshoot scripting languages such as C-shell, K-shell and PERL. Troubleshooting experience using monitoring software and unix utilities to isolate and resolve server performance and tuning issues.
Ø Design, develop and implement processes, procedures and documentation for updating and maintaining servers in a distributed systems environment.
Ø Should have strong time management skills and have a commitment to continual improvement of the technical aspects of data processing.
Ø General TC/IP and network unix protocol and trouble shooting skills such as NIS, DNS, NFS, and LDAP.
Ø Must be able to work independently but also be able to work well as a team member.
Ø Provide architectural support for n-tier client server environments.
Ø Position requires 24x7 on-call pager with rotation with other team members.
Ø Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Ø +5yrs - Senior level Solaris (9/10) systems administration
Ø +5yrs- Experience in creating and troubleshooting complex shell Boerne and K-shell
Ø +5yrs - Hands on experience with system monitoring tools, scripts unix commands which permit tuning of servers and system applications for maximum efficiency
Ø +5 yrs - Experience planning, implementing and maintaining OS and Firmware patching levels to include system applications and scripts upgrades.
Ø +5yrs - Strong troubleshooting skills, problem detection using centralized logging for problem identification and analysis
Ø +5yrs - Working in 24X7 on call pager rotation environment
Ø +3yrs - Experience with change management software and processes to report and resolve issues.
Ø +3yrs - Experience with Symantec Storage Foundation suite DiskSuite & Volume manager, VERITAS cluster server.
Ø +2yrs - Hands on experience with Solaris Zones which include ZFS file systems, storage pools, snaps, clones and containers.
Ø +2 yrs - Experience with Solaris LDOMS
Ø +2yrs -Strong analysis skills capacity planning, trending to address future growth needs
Ø Strong - Possess good oral and written communication.
Ø Strong - Possess good technical and process documentation skills
Preferences:
Ø +2yrs - Knowledge of automation concept of deployment processes procedures.
Ø +2yrs - Windows 2003 and above administration experience.
Ø +2yrs - Experience with Active directory , Domains and DNS
Ø +2yrs -Administration experience with the following monitoring applications I3, Wily, Big Brother, Nagios, ITCAM or Hobbit/Xymon
